Jeannette Duenow

Vice President of Operations, Lodging Division

Jeannette DuenowJeannette has served as Vice President of Operations, Lodging Division since January 2007. As Vice President of Operations, Jeannette directs the management of various hotel properties and focuses on maintaining current clients, while also acquiring new business. This includes the oversight of seven Alaska hotel properties and more than 200 full-time managers and employees. Jeannette has over 20years’ experience in the hospitality industry, starting her career as a front desk clerk and housekeeper at a Marriott hotel property in the lower 48.

Jeannette began her NMS career as the first General Manager of the Anchorage Airport Courtyard by Marriott in 1997. She also spent some time in Kotzebue managing the Nullagvik Hotel. In 1998, NMS acquired additional hotel management contracts, and Jeannette was promoted to Director of Operations, Lodging Division.

Jeannette is currently serving as President of the Alaska Hospitality Alliance Education Foundation and as Vice President of the Gold Nugget Triathlon. She also serves on Marriott International’s advisory subcommittee for their SpringHill Suites brand and is a volunteer instructor for Junior Achievement in the Anchorage School District.  In the past, Jeannette served on the boards of the Alaska Hotel and Lodging Association and the YMCA of Anchorage.

Education:

Jeannette holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Arizona State University in Phoenix, as well as an MBA from Alaska Pacific University.


Jeff Brabec

Director of Engineering

Jeff BrabecJeff Brabec has worked NMS for ten years in the maintenance department of the Lodging Division. As the Director of Engineering in the Lodging Division, Jeff has direct responsibility and supervision of the maintenance of all the hotels NMS operates.

Jeff has overseen the complete renovation of four of NMS’ managed properties. In his various positions at NMS, Jeff has performed boiler and pump maintenance, air conditioning and refrigeration repair, air handling unit repair and maintenance, cooling tower repair and maintenance, lighting inspections, and preventative maintenance on all equipment.

Education

Jeff holds an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Mid-Plains Community College. He is a 5-time winner of the Maintenance Manager of the Year Award from the Alaska Hotel/Motel and Lodging Association and has also won on a national level. Jeff is trained in OSHA requirements and NMS safety procedures.


Melinda Calderon

Director of Operations, Lodging Division

Melinda CalederonMelinda has served as Director of Operations, Lodging Division since January of 2009. As Director of Operations, Melinda is directly responsible to achieve the profitability goals of assigned hotels by providing quality guests service, team retention and motivation, product quality, brand management, administrative and financial controls, and profit standards including managing top and bottom lines while operating within budgetary constraints.

Melinda has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, starting her career as a housekeeper. Melinda possesses an in-depth knowledge of hotel operations and extensive experience relevant to each department at various levels of responsibility. She has superior management skills and is committed to staff development through training, mentoring and coaching.

Melinda has served as a board member on the Literacy Council of Alaska in Fairbanks and as the Board Vice President for the Fairbanks Parking Authority.

Education

Melinda holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of the Visayas. She also has a Marriot Limited Service Hotel General Manager’s certification. Melinda has attended and completed various training seminars in the fields of business management, sales and revenue management, customer relations and other hospitality related topics.


Rob Hanson

Director Sales and Revenue Manager

Rob HansonRob has served as the Director of Sales and Revenue Management since 2003. As the Director of Sales and Revenue Management, Rob leads the direct sales effort of all seven of the NMS Lodging hotel properties. This includes the daily management of a Sales and Event Management Staff. Rob oversees over $20 Million in gross hotel revenue while managing relationships with most of our major accounts. He has over 11 years in the hospitality industry, staring his career as a front desk clerk at an independent hotel.

Rob began his NMS career at the Front Desk of the Anchorage Airport Courtyard by Marriott. Rob advanced to oversee the NMS reservations center for 2 years before assuming his current role. Mixing Revenue Management and Sales is a very aggressive position that has lead to tremendous growth for NMS.

Rob is currently the Chairperson of the University of Alaska Anchorage Computer and Information Office Systems (CIOS) Industry Advisory Committee. He provides input to the CIOS department on current business conditions and helps to steer curriculum and courses to meet the needs of the business community.

Education

Rob earned an Associate’s Degree from Central Wyoming College in Radio TV Broadcasting in 1997. Rob has completed several American Management Association courses also.
